Do I have osteoporosis? Osteopath

Osteoporosis is a medical condition in which the bones become more fragile than usual which makes it more likely for you to break a bone if you fall over or knock yourself. It is more common as we get older, but the condition can affect people of any age and affects men as well as women.

Osteoporosis is a silent condition. It doesn’t hurt and most people don’t know that they have it until they fall and break a bone. However, by that stage it’s often too late. The most common bones to break as a result of osteoporosis are the wrist, spine or hip. Many people struggle to recover after such a break and it is estimated that up to 36% of people that break their hip as a result of osteoporosis will die within a year.

There’s lots you can do to reduce the risk if the condition is caught early, however, this can be difficult due to the fact that those living with osteoporosis rarely report symptoms.

At Netherne Osteopathic Practice, our osteopath can screen you for osteoporosis and determine the likelihood of you developing an osteoporosis related fracture. Using sophisticated computerised algorithms, we will be able to put your mind at ease, advise you on what you can do to improve your bone health and if required, write to your doctor regarding potential management.

Don’t leave it until its too late. Book an appointment and find out how osteopathy could help you.
