On 16 November 2017, Matthew Rogers, iO Head of Professional Development was appointed to represent the profession at the PHE Allied Health Professionals Public Health Strategy Board.
Held at the Royal Society of Occupational Therapists, this forum provides an opportunity for AHPs, including osteopaths, to advise and influence the official PHE five-year strategic plan and associated activities.
That the iO’s presence was specifically requested by PHE, resulting from the profession’s new AHP status, demonstrates enhanced recognition of the potential role that osteopathy has to play in the broader UK healthcare community.
Matthew said "This development is encouraging, and it is hoped that it will result in greater opportunities for osteopaths to contribute to UK patient health and care”.
